Why not give yoga a try?
Yoga is an ancient Indian practice designed to promote relaxation, health and flexability. By using a series of poses and breathing techniques, yoga also works on the practitioner's balance, strength and overall health. It has been shown to reduce blood pressure, lower cholesterol levels, diminish back pain and improve cardiovascular health.
As well as our standard yoga classes, which are a great place to start, we offer Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Power Yoga.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga
The word Vinyasa means "breath-synchronised movement". In other words the teacher will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or exhale. That does not mean however that it is just about stretching, Vinyasa is a very free form of yoga and Tatiana, our teacher, will regularly change things around to keep the class both interesting and stimulating.
Power Yoga
For a more vigorous, fitness based class, you should give Power Yoga a try. Although closely modelled on Ashtanga yoga it differs in that it does not follow a series of set poses. This gives the instructor the freedom to tailor her class to ensure that not only does it suit the ability of all attendee's but also that it gives the optimum workout to those in the class.
If you are interested in trying out a yoga class, please check out our timetable. Alternatively if you have any questions about this topic or any other related to our studio please email the club on fitness@thebanksidehealthclub.co.uk
