SO, WHAT’S NEUROMUSCULAR THERAPY?
A combination of deep tissue/sports massage, neuromuscular technique (NMT), myofascial release technique (MRT), soft tissue release (STR), trigger point release and remedial exercise advice. Treatment focuses on the muscles, tendons and ligaments.
HMM, I’M NONE THE WISER
If you have either long-term or recently-developed musculo-skeletal problems, this type of treatment can increase your flexibility and comfort, giving you renewed strength and stability in your daily life, work or exercise regime.
WHICH TYPES OF PROBLEMS CAN BE TACKLED?
A wide range, including occupational discomfort affecting the back, neck and shoulders; specific joint and limb problems resulting from injury; the knock-on effects of intensive training such as for marathon-running, gym and team sports; and muscular aches and pains experienced by seniors.
WHO MIGHT BENEFIT FROM TREATMENT?
Some clients present with chronic pain built up over months or even years of misalignment, others with reduced range of motion in joints following surgery. Clients engaged in professional sport may have repetitive overuse injuries, while those working long hours at a PC may suffer from upper body tightness as well as lower back pain. All can benefit from the unlocking and lengthening of tense tissues.
…AND WHAT IF I’VE NO SPECIFIC PROBLEM?
Regular treatment will increase suppleness and help prevent future injury. Although the aim is for an eventual relaxation of the body’s soft tissues, this is not a recreational ‘spa’ treatment, and it may sometimes feel uncomfortable should deep areas require release.
