THE CLUB.

The Bankside Health Club is a part of a small boutique style chain of independent health and fitness clubs, based
in and around the City. Each of our clubs is managed as an independent unit to ensure they grow and develop to
best suit the community that they serve.

The Playgate Group have been operating for over 20 years, however, the combined expertise of it’s management
stretches back farther still. The Group’s first club was Market Sports which originally opened in 1991 in the Old
Spitalfields fruit market and has now relocated to the heart of trendy Shoreditch. The second Club in the Group was
Slim Jims, which is situated on Broadgate Circus near Liverpool Street Station. Slim Jims was acquired by The Playgate
Group in 2005 but is actually the longest operating Club in the City having been established over 40 years. It started
its life as a gentleman’s only Club, its name being derived from an old army officer’s term. Interestingly, one of the few
females to be allowed access was the late Princess Diana Spencer, who worked at the Club in her early years before
marrying into royalty.

The third Club in the Group was The CityPoint Club which was acquired from Champneys in March 2006. As well as being a premium Health Club it is also a destinational spa and was awarded 5 Bubble status in 2009 by The Good Spa Guide.

Although each Club is very different, one thing we all share is that we separate ourselves from the mainstream by offering a friendly and approachable service that prides itself on customer experience. We don’t believe in simple sign ups, but instead offer our customers the support and services they need to help them achieve their goals.

The fourth Club in the group was us. The Bankside Health Club was built in Southwark; an area marked for significant regeneration and the club is situated in the iconic Blue Fin Building. Costing £2.7 million it was a large investment but the company was determined to deliver a first class facility to the residents and workers of this area.

The doors to the Club first opened on 3rd March 2008 and quickly became recognised as not only one of the most prestigious Health & Fitness facilities in the area but is also renowned as one of the friendliest.
